Dear Friends and Fellow Rugby Enthusiasts,
I think you know my passion for Scottish rugby over the last 30 years!!
I can honestly say I have enjoyed every moment from starting at Balfron High School coached by Bobby Telfer to playing in the Scottish cup semi final against Bourghmuir!
Playing with Scottish internationalists like David Barrett, Stuart Campbell (Fintry), Rory Kerr and Colin Gregor all who played at Endrick in my 20 year career.
Touring for me was probably the best way to spend with Endrick team mates and playing teams in Canada, Ireland and Wales stays long and vivid in my memory to this day.
It’s now time to put back into the club for the youth of the day and I decided some years ago to take the mini boys (including my son Ben) touring to the six nations. To date we have been at North Berwick, Scotland 2013 (costing £1500), Alnwick, England 2014(costing £5500), Bargoed, Wales 2015 ( Costing £9000), Ireland 2016 (Costing (£17,000), France costing £24,000) and in 2018 we took squad of boys to Rome in Italy costing approx (£29,000). 2019 saw a tour to Poland but because of Covid travel restrictions that was the last. We plan a final tour for this age group as next year they will be seniors and this will require the same sort of funding and support we have been fortunate enough to see in previous years.
Giving a 365 rugby experience has been so important to help the players stay encouraged and indeed help them develop the disciplines that will help them in later life; respect, sportsmanship, perseverance and the positive mental attitude they will need to face life. Touring is, and has been, a really positive part of that experience and your support is greatly appreciated.
We believe with the correct support and mentoring at least one of these boys will play for Glasgow or Scotland like the generations of Strathendrick players before them – with your help.
